Students study at host university for more than 4 months and it is suggested that master’s students study abroad for a semester and doctoral students study abroad for a year. Every year, each university will select a maxium of 15 students and will send a maxium of 5 students to each university.
That is to say, each university will accept 15 students in total, and send 5 students.
Through this program, students take specialized courses and work with lab members in the lab of their co-supervisor at host university. Students acquire internationality such as cross cultural understanding and communication skills, and knowledge of mathematics and computer science and advanced AI by actively participating in various activities and language learning.

Short program

Each university organizes 10-14 days short program once a year and sends 5-10 undergraduate/postgraduate students. In addition to take mini-classes, hands-on classes, and visit companies, they will have culture experience, deepen their cross-cultural understanding, and acquire communication skills through various exchange activities.

Internship

Students participate in a 5-days to 4-weeks internship either at home university or at host university. UY will arrange an internship focusing on the manufacturing industry to experience AI applications in the field of manufacturing in Japan. HDU will introduce students to Chinese top IT companies like Alibaba and Huawei etc. PKNU will maximize the resources of the innovation enterprise cluster on campus.
And UniMAP actively arranges for merged companies: Japanese-Malaysian, China-Malaysian and Korean-Malaysia.
These innovations expose participating students to cutting-edge AI technology and learn about entrepreneurship and international cooperation.

Flipped classroom online course

Based on the strength of each university, a total of 5 online courses will be offered in each year, one from each university for master’s students and one jointly from four universities for doctoral students. Course content will cover cutting-edge AI theory and application techniques, and will be updated as the industry evolves. In order to enhance learning effectiveness while minimizing the impact of differences in four university’s academic calender, students will watch lecture videos prepared in advance in an on-demand format, and online classes will be conducted in a flipped class pattern that allows students to deepen their understanding mainly through group discussions. At least 5-10 master/doctoral candidates will be selected by each university to participate in the online course. The credit of the course will be recognized by each university according to the credit transfer and accreditation scheme.

Summer school

Each university host the program with the collaboration of the other 3 universities in turns.

The host university will set a specific issue by taking advantage of own strengths in the field and the characteristics of the region. Students from each university form mixed groups and, under the guidance of faculty members, analyze the problem, design a model, implement the model, and present the results. In order to enhance the learning effect, the camp will be conducted in a hybrid format, with online pre-camp lessons, assignments, and preparation of necessary knowledge prior to the start of the camp.

Deepen understanding for industry’s need through panel discussion by representatives from industry and faculty members.

The symposium and forum will be available online at the same time, so that more teachers and students can participate. An alumni meeting attended by program graduates will also be held in conjunction with the summer school.
